LIFE HACK #2: Say NO

Today is the second day in our 4 day life hack series, and today we’re mastering the art of saying no. I love the word yes, but it’s important to know when to say no. Some of my greatest achievements have come from saying no and taking time for myself to relax and be present. Ask yourself what you want to say yes and no to today, take a look at your schedule to see if saying yes fits in or if it takes away from your goals. Often times I’ll say yes to too many people and take on more than I can handle, and it leaves me feeling unfulfilled when I don’t have time to accomplish what I’ve set out for the day.
Don’t be afraid to let people down, because in the end you’ll feel more let down than them if you don’t have time for yourself. Sometimes you just need to take things out of your life and not be so busy all the time. This extends to saying no to bad habits as well, quit destroying your body and talking down to yourself. At least start by minimizing these habits. If you have a difficult decision to make, don’t shy away from asking for help and gaining an outside perspective. I want you to practice saying no once a day and take note of the results.
Saying yes to too many opportunities could also take away from your relationships if you’re not getting enough quality time with your loved ones. Be respectful when you say no, and it’ll give you a lot more confidence and self-respect. It’s important to know your values and stay aligned with them. Your time is just as valuable as anyone else’s, so don’t feel pressured to sacrifice your time if it’ll hurt you in the long run.
