How to Change Your Life INSTANTLY
FULL PODCAST EPISODE 009
The 4 R’s to Instantly Change your Life.
The first R is being 100% resourceful.
You need to be ignited physically and mentally, to raise your standard. Tony Robbins asks people, “Who here has ever failed? Why did you fail? What do these things have in common?” People would answer the last question with a lack of resources, but then Tony makes the point that people fail because of a lack of resourcefulness, not a lack of resources. If you have enough care and love you will find a way.
For Example, JK Rowling, who wrote the Harry Potter series, was broke and living in her car, but she was resourceful and created an empire out of her imagination. She’s now a multi-billionaire. Why? Because she had a hunger and drive and relentlessly went after her dreams. Here’s something to ask yourself, when do you quit? After 1 failure? 10 failures? 100 failures? Kernel Sanders took 1000 no’s before someone finally said yes to his chicken recipe, and because of his persistence, KFC exists today.
In order to be resourceful, you need to be fully focused and driven in body mind and spirit. Be aligned with yourself. Just remember that what I say to you has a very little impact compared to what you say to yourself, so remind yourself to be 100% resourceful, not 50%, not 99%, 100%.
The next R is taking 100% responsibility.
How you show up is your responsibility, meaning what you say and how you act is determined by you and only you. Take 100% responsibility for the results you produce in life, and stop passively sitting by and waiting for things to get better. Whatever cards you’re dealt in life, you need to take responsibility for who you show up as. Having this mindset allows you to feel more in control of your life since you get to choose your actions. Outsourcing your behavior just puts you at the mercy of other people.
The third R is all about rituals.
What is your morning ritual? Your nighttime ritual? Many people say they don’t have one, but that’s still a ritual in itself. If you’re starting your day with coffee and stressing over your to-do list, that’s still a ritual. Of course, it’s not the best ritual to have, especially considering how the way you start your day determines the course of the rest of your day. Instead, you should fuel your tank for an hour or so in the morning with healthy habits so that by the time the first challenge hits, your energy levels are up and you can tackle it with ease.
Finally, the fourth R is results.
If you optimize the first 3 R’s, the results will directly correlate and also be optimized. That means if you put 50% effort in the other areas, you’ll get a 50% result. You will produce better results in life if you are more resourceful, responsible, and ritualistic, which is why it’s important to strive for 100% efficiency in each area.
So where do you begin? Start by knowing what you want, what result you’re after. This should be something that excites and scares you at the same time. But have you ever really thought about what you want? A better body? Connection with God? Promotion at work? Most focus on what they fear and don’t want, which really only leads them to those fears. This is because your dominant thoughts and beliefs create your reality. Your brain needs direction, it needs to know what the end result is, so pinpoint exactly what it is that you want from life. Focus on what you want and move in that direction one step at a time. Start with small wins, you won’t believe how much it charges you.
So here’s something to consider, what would you work harder for? $5000 or $500,000? What inspires you more? Obviously $500,000. But what would you do with that money? Most don’t know where to start. You need to visualize and emotionalize your goals. This means whatever you want, determine that result in a present moment reality and the feeling it will give you. For example, if you want to buy a nice car, you don’t buy it for the car, you buy it for how it’ll make you feel, so imagine that feeling with all of your senses. Your emotions are your fuel for action, so feel the discomfort and sit in it until you’re no longer able to. This is when you take action to change your circumstances. Imagine showing up as your best version, own the result, feel it in your entire body. It’s also a good idea to find an accountability partner to remind you to stay on track. Remember, it is a practice, you won’t achieve these results overnight, so keep at it and the small results compound into something massive. Know yourself, be yourself, and I’ll see you on the other side.
