How to LOVE YOURSELF

We just finished our 9 day podcast series, and today we’re giving you a bonus lesson on how to love yourself. I urge you to go through the other 9 steps and the first overview lesson. Loving yourself is such an important step to your evolution, as you need compassion for yourself before you can give to others.
I get up before 4 am every morning and spend up to 2 hours on self care, whether that’s meditation, exercise, a good meal, incantations, and anything else that’ll boost my energy levels. If your computer needs an upgrade, you would quickly update it without a second thought, but why don’t people do the same with their bodies when they start to wear down? A great way to love yourself is by having a morning ritual, love ritual, or whatever you want to call it, as long as you’re taking out time every day to take care of yourself. This could include tasks like exercising, reading, going out with friends, journaling, and anything else that fuels your soul. Your first commitment of the day should be to yourself, rather than instantly checking your phone and going into a reactive state. If you do this for 21 days you’ll have amazing new levels of energy, and improvement in every area including communication and problem solving skills.
What do you want from life? What are your goals? I can tell you that whatever they are, loving yourself will get you there faster and better. Contribution may not be that important to you, but when you don’t make things about you and make it about others, this shift in your perspective enhances your energy. Then when you get back to tacking your own problems, they become much smaller and simpler. If life is all about you, you will live in a very small world. When’s the last time you looked in the mirror and said you love yourself? This isn’t from a place of ego, it’s from compassion, and the knowing that loving yourself will allow you to love others more. The more you love yourself, the more you can serve other people.
I want you to wake up in the morning, look in the mirror, and see yourself as a 5 year old child. Would you tear this child down and criticize it? Or would you be empowered and motivated to care for the child? Furthermore, every time you go out I want you to imagine everyone as either 100 years old, or an infant child. This shifts your perspective since we’ve all been a child at some point, and we will all likely get old. These exercises will help you tap into the childlike fullness and curiosity that kids have towards life.
Before you go to bed tonight, write 10 things you’re grateful for, and why you’re grateful for them. This way you’ll go to bed with gratitude and love marinating your mind, and you’ll wake up feeling more fulfilled. Read that list over during your morning ritual. Another tactic is to smile first thing in the morning. Physiology is one of the ways in which we feel emotions, so your facial expressions and body language will definitely influence the way you feel.
Things will get harder before they get better, but once you get over the 30 day hump habits will get easier. You can start with 15 minute rituals and slowly increase it. Just remember to know thyself, be thyself, and love thyself.
